Outvertising Live 2024 - FAQs

When and where is it being held?

Outvertising Live is on Thursday the 21st Of November in central London. Full accessibility and times are being updated on our Eventbrite page as we get them.

What subjects will be covered?

We’re aiming to cover a full spectrum of a realistic look at where we are as a sector, in terms of how we treat our people and the work we create, plus insights into evolving technology and shining a light on genuine inclusion and the challenges that come with it.

We’ll be celebrating campaigns that shone through the wall of noise this year, whilst holding the contradictions about what is actually being experiences by parts of our community.

Who should come?

Frankly, if you’re even reading this you should come. All are welcome. If you have a claim to work or even have affinity for the advertising and marketing sector, then you should be here whether you’re queer or not. Your LGBTQIA+ colleagues need you to start showing up, and you can start with this event. ALL are welcome. Everybody and every body. The more people we can show that ‘go woke, go broke’ is absolute nonsense, the better.

How can I get tickets?

Get them here and get them quickly as we sold a quarter of capacity within a week of announcement.

The Early Bird tickets are £40 + fees until Mon 21st Oct, then Standard tickets are £60 + fees

We understand not everyone can expense the cost, so get in touch and we can help. We have a block of tickets reserved specifically for this. Pop a note to info@outvertising.org

The event was free in the past, why are you charging this year?

Where shall we start? How long have you got?!

Two things need to happen from this event:

  • We need, and will insist on, paying our speakers and panelists.

  • We also need to make enough revenue to support our work throughout the year as we are non-profit and entirely volunteer run.

We also need to cover the costs of the event, which is where sponsorship comes in. Dearest gentle reader, you work in the sector, you know how this goes. (It also reduces the drop off rate which helps reduce food wastage)

For too long we have expected that events like this (i.e. more marginalised voices seeking representation and usually providing education) should be free. This fundamentally devalues the work that we do for this event and all year round, as devalues that of the people who speak at our events.

If we want this to stop, we have to show how it can be done.

Relatedly, we still have some sponsorship slots available. Does your organisation want to be front-of-mind of about 200 people, who care about the state of our industry? The sponsorship market for all LGBTQIA+ events is incredibly challenging, so if you think you can help in any way you know where to find us.

Do you pay your speakers?

Yes.

We pay all speakers. Some choose to donate it back to us as they are in the privileged position to not need the fee, and we in turn donate 50% of it to Stonewall.

Are you doing Outvertising Live Late after the main conference?

We're working on it - watch this space!

What types of sponsorship opportunities are there?

Come on now, you know that’s a how-long-is-a-piece-of-string question! Talk to us and we can make something work for you!

Outvertising Live

Thursday 21st November, 1pm-6pm, London

Outvertising Live is back for the third year on Thursday 21st November, and this time we're going back to basics. We’re inviting forward-thinking marketers and agencies to come together and help us build a path to more frequent and more authentic LGBTQIA+ inclusive marketing and advertising.

This year's event, in partnership with Campaign, will arm you with the tools, evidence, inspiration and confidence you need to advocate for queer work that works, whether in your organisation or in collaboration with your clients.

Join us for an afternoon of impactful keynotes, presentations and panels discussing best-in class LGBTQIA+-centred work and actions to take to improve inclusion across the board, with a host of industry leaders and emerging queer talent at the helm of the conversations.
